CPP women’s basketball lands five All-CCAA honors

By Nicolas Esparza, March 17, 2026

After winning the California Collegiate Athletic Association regular season title, the Cal Poly Pomona women’s basketball team further cemented its season with five All-CCAA selections, tying the program record.

The honors were given to forwards Sydney Nelson and Hunter Hudson, guards Andrea Stajic and Brielle Minor, and an honorable mention to forward Mydrea Moore. The Broncos finished the regular season 20-2, led by now two-time head coach of the year Danelle Bishop, securing their 25th championship in program history and the first since 2014.

Nelson represented the Broncos with All-CCAA First Team honors. She ranked second in scoring in the CCAA, averaging 18.5 points per game, and led the conference with a .499 field goal percentage.

“I wouldn’t be able to get as many shots off as I do and be as confident in my shot if my teammates and my coach didn’t trust me to make the right decisions,” Nelson said. “Also recognizing that nobody’s going to have a perfect game, if I’m not having the best shooting night, just keep shooting my shot and putting my trust in my team, my coaches but also putting the trust in my work.”

Hudson earned All-CCAA Second Team honors. The Broncos forward placed seventh in rebounding in the conference, averaging 8.7 boards per game. Hudson earned Player of the Week honors for the final week of the regular season after two double-doubles for the week of Feb. 23 to March 1.

Stajic was also awarded All-CCAA Second Team honors, averaging 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. She earned a regular season high of 23 points in a win against California State Dominguez Hills Feb. 26 and ranked 10th in the CCAA for 3-pointers during the regular season with 46.

“This season, we have been really focused on our identity, which is defense,” Stajic said. “We’ve just been able to build good runs and keep that rolling. I just try to keep everyone calm and collected on the court, but I’ve been putting up some more shots this year, which has been a lot of fun, and my teammates are always encouraging me.”

Minor also received second-team recognition for leading the Broncos’ offense this season. She averaged 5.2 assists, which placed her third in the conference. Minor had 14 assists against California State East Bay Jan. 4, which was the most in a CCAA game this season and tied the school record.

The junior guard shared her goal this season was not to worry about scoring but instead to focus on her decision-making and making plays to set up her teammates for success. She said finding her rhythm on the court has allowed her to improve from her previous two seasons.

“I think that it was really just a testament to how far I’ve come, and it made me feel good about myself because it’s always nice to be recognized by other people,” Minor said. “But I’ve also just felt a lot more confident this year with my team.”

Moore earned honorable mention honors. The forward averaged 6.6 rebounds per game, which placed her 10th in the conference. She grabbed a season high 16 rebounds in a win over California State Los Angeles Feb. 28. She is among the CCAA’s top interior defenders, ranking second for shot blocking with an average of 1.6 per game.

After taking home the regular season CCAA championship trophy and five all-team honors, the Broncos shifted their focus to the CCAA tournament. After clinching the No. 1 seed, the Broncos automatically advanced to the semifinal and beat Chico State at home March 6, before falling 78-62 to California State Los Angeles in the championship game March 7.

The team will move on to the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Tournament beginning March 13.

It feels amazing to see some recognition for lifelong work that we put in,” Stajic said. “But at the end of the day, I’m just really looking forward to playing right now in the tournament, and that’s where my head’s at.”
