As the leaves shift from a bright, vibrant green to deep reds, oranges and yellows, that can only mean one thing: fall is here. Whether it be apple picking or meandering through the corn mazes at the Cal Poly Pomona pumpkin patch, students are looking forward to taking part in their favorite autumn activity.
Shelby de Ridder | psychology student
“My favorite fall activity is carving pumpkins. It’s a childhood memory I used to do every Halloween with my siblings.”
Julia Iezza | mechanical engineering student
“My favorite fall activity is going to the pumpkin patch because it’s active, it gets you outside and you get to pick out a cool decoration for your house.”
Santino Galante | civil engineering student
“I am really looking forward to snowboarding. I like to listen to music while I go down the slopes and it’s really relaxing. I love to go with my friends because the drive is only like an hour, but we have a lot of fun in the car, and I get to catch up with my friends and whoever I go with.”
Megan Deiss | animal health science student
“What I like to do each year, my mom and I go to Oak Glen, which is in Yucaipa, we go apple picking, take our dog and we just like walking around. They have something called mile high pies and apple pies that’s a foot high and has little donuts that are apple cider flavored. I love getting apple cider and we always get jam and jellies from those farms, and we give them out as Christmas gifts for everybody. We like to do that every year and we plan to do that this year.”
Kristen Jingco | aerospace engineering student
“My friends and I liked going to the pumpkin patch on campus. I signed up to go to the preview at the pumpkin patch so that’s exciting. I like fall weather, it’s a lot cooler outside and, for me, fall events on campus are a great opportunity to hang out with my friends and spend time with them.”
Kevin Cardenas | electrical engineering student
“In fall I like spending time with my family outdoors… usually Saturdays and Sundays are the only time I can have a little bit more time with my family.”
Gabriel Johnson | visual communication design student
“My favorite fall activity is having bonfires with my friends. It is a good time to hang out and it’s the perfect weather for the bonfire.”
Mavil Fajardo | animal health science student
“What we like to do is go to either Big Bear, Crestline or Arrowhead Lake. This year luckily, we got a cabin in Crestline so most likely we will spend our time there. We always like to go either towards the lake, walk our dogs or get food that we could cook there at the house and spend a nice weekend at the cabin.”
Giselle Sanchez | kinesiology student
“Pumpkin patches or festivals that have a bunch of different activities and flower areas. I go with my friends a lot and it’s just a nice place where you can hang out and there’s so much in one area that you can spend pretty much all day.”
Marco Francisco | visual communication design student
“I like going to Knotts scary farms or horror nights at Universal. It’s fun going there with friends and when people try to scare you.”
