Parking & Transportation Services introduced a new shuttle bus route, Route D, on Feb. 25 to better serve the transportation needs of students.
It is designed for students parking in the overflow lots at Innovation Village.
The route will run from the Student Services Building to the crosswalk next to the Southern California Edison building and to overflow Lot 2 at Innovation Brew Works.
“I am so glad that they [Parking & Transportation] added this new route,” said Katlin Murray, a fourth-year liberal studies student. “Before, the bus seemed like it would never come, so I would just walk.”
According to the Parking & Transportation Services’ website, the route will only run Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., but this may change based on demand.
Students noted the Bronco Express Shuttle mobile application does not always reflect accurate shuttle service hours at the new stop.
“There was one time I tried to take it [the shuttle] and the app said there [were] no predictions,” Murray said. “I was a little confused by that.”
The bus comes around approximately every 10 minutes when there are predictions.
Mark Magner, a shuttle driver, said the route is small, but very efficient.
Students say they are looking forward to riding the new route in hopes that it will solve the problems with overcrowding that are present on some other routes, especially during the fall semester.
“I think they created this route to get from the overflow lots to at least the Student Services Building a little bit quicker,” Magner said.
The Poly Post reached out to David Flores, coordinator of the Rideshare Office for Parking & Transportation Services, for comment, but did not receive a reply at the time of publication.
