Spring is in full bloom, and SoCal is getting sunnier by the day.

It might be time to put the sweaters back in the closet and bring out the sunny day attire.

Thrift stores are the new trend when it comes to finding a new fit, especially for college students, because who doesn’t like a good discount?

Here are a handful of thrifts in the surrounding cities near campus, and not the typical chain thrifts.

Around four and a half miles from CPP is D & J thrift store, located in Pomona.

It is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. till 8 p.m. and it is closed on Mondays.

It has a variety of different discounts depending on the day.

Approximately six miles from campus is Veterans Thrift Store in Pomona.

This thrift store does a rotation of discount tags that get rotated on Tuesdays.

Depending on the color of the tags, shoppers might be getting that rad find for either 25%, 50% or 75% off.

The store is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. till 8 p.m. and from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Seven and a half miles from campus is Heartland Thrift store, located in Montclair.

At this thrift store they do a 30% discount on Friday from 4 p.m. till close and then again on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m.

During the first hour of opening on Saturday morning, 9 a.m. till 10 a.m., the cashiers hand out a 50% off coupon for your entire purchase for that day.

Heartland Thrift store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. till 8:45 p.m. and it‘s closed on Sunday.

The store does a raffle every month where shoppers are allowed one free raffle ticket with no purchase necessary.

Then on the first of the month, a winner is chosen to receive $40 in store credit.

Located in downtown Claremont, about eight miles from campus, is DeeLux thrift store.

This thrift store sells a variety of used and new clothes, accessories and shoes. It also sells unique merchandise like books, cards, journals and other fun little gifts.

DeeLux does not offer any discounts; however, if you have some trendy clothes you no longer need or want you can try to sell them there.

The store will buy clothes from you depending on if it fits the season and what it thinks will sell. DeeLux will give you either 30% cash or 50% store credit.

Sunday through Thursday the store is open 11 a.m. till 8 p.m. and from 11 a.m. till 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Another thrift store roughly eight miles from campus is Quality Thrift Store, located in Montclair.

Its hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. till 8:45 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
