~ 2:35 a.m. Nov 6. 2024 – Donald Trump is elected 47th President of the United States
~ 9:15 p.m. The Poly Post ends their election coverage for Tuesday, Nov. 5

~ 9:04 p.m. Harris wins Hawaii
Harris wins Hawaii, giving her 4 electoral votes. This brings her to a total of 209 electoral votes, lessening her deficit against Trump.
~ 8:43 p.m. Harris wins Virginia
Harris takes Virginia, raising her total to 205 electoral votes. This can result in Trump closing out the presidency or Harris making a comeback.
~ 8:35 p.m. Harris wins New Mexico
Harris wins New Mexico, bringing her to a total of 192 electoral votes, closing the gap between her and Trump.
~ 8:25 p.m. Harris wins Oregon
Harris won Oregon, increasing her total electoral votes to 187, a 43-vote difference compared to Trump.
~ 8:19 p.m. Trump wins North Carolina
Trump won North Carolina, bringing his total electoral votes to 230. Trump only needs another 40 electoral votes to take the presidency.
~ 8 p.m. Polls close in California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington
Harris won California and Washington, giving her 54 electoral votes bringing her total to 179. Trump wins the electoral votes for Idaho, making his total electoral vote 214. Most swing states are still too close to call. Polls in Hawaii and Alaska are the last two remaining.
~ 7:40 p.m. Voting centers in California close in 30 minutes
The Cal Poly Pomona voting center remains open with a wait of over an hour. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote as long as they stay in line. The voting center at Cal Poly Pomona is located in Building 35 room 2135 Ursa Minor.
~ 7:39 p.m. Trump wins in Kansas and Iowa
Trump wins 12 electoral votes from Kansas and Iowa, bringing his electoral votes to 210. Harris remains at 112 electoral votes.
~ 7:38 p.m. Colorado approves state amendment protecting abortion rights
Colorado voters passed a state amendment that prevents state and local funds for abortion from being blocked. Abortion is legal in Colorado, but this amendment further solidifies rights to the procedure.
~ 7:27 p.m. Trump claims cheating in Philadelphia
Trump claims “massive cheating” in Philadelphia. Philadelphia District Attorney affirms there is no factual basis to trump’s claims. Philadelphia Mayor also says elections are safe, secure and fair.
~ 7:21 p.m. Harris wins D.C.
Harris wins Washington, D.C., putting her electoral votes at a total of 112 and Trump remains 198. In the House, Democrats have increased to 88 seats and Republicans rose to 129.
~ 7:09 p.m. Harris wins Colorado
Harris wins Colorado, bringing her electoral votes to 109. In the Senate, Republicans have 47 seats, while Democrats have 36. In the House, Republicans have 121 seats, while Democrats have 82.
~ 7 p.m. Polls close in Montana, Nevada and Utah
Trump has won in Utah and Montana. This brings his electoral votes to 198, while Harris sits at 99.
~ 6:50 p.m. Trump wins Missouri
Trump wins another 10 electoral votes, putting his tally to 188 for another third consecutive election.
~ 6:38 p.m. New York voters approve a constitutional amendment that expands states’ constitution’s antidiscrimination language, which would protect the civil rights of people seeking abortions. This is a key victory for Harris and Democrats. ~ 6:25 p.m. Glitches at Arizona polling sites cause hours to be extended
Issues with electronic poll books caused people to be turned away, leading to a judge ruling that nine polling sites in Navajo County be extended 2 hours later.
~ 6:25 p.m. Trump wins 3rd Congressional District in Nebraska, along with 1 electoral vote
This district is known to be one of the most conservative in the country. The last time the district voted to elect a Democrat in the U.S. House was in 1958.
~ 6:22 p.m. House and Senate update
The Senate currently sits at 46 seats for Republicans to the Democrats 35, while the House sits with Republicans having 87 seats to the Democrats 64.
~ 6:17 p.m. Democrat Sarah McBride wins the House seat for Delaware’s 1st Congressional District, becoming the first transgender woman to be elected in Congress.
~ 6:17p.m. Chinese accounts boost Russian election disinformation with last minute help from China
Investors identified several videos linked to Russia where false claims were made regarding voting. One video included the mimicking of legitimate U.S. news outlets and included fake audio clips of law enforcement officials supposedly acknowledging voter fraud.
~ 6:14 p.m. State of Florida rejects abortion measures
Florida is the first state to reject abortion measures to protect women’s rights in the South. Ever since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, amendment supporters had hoped to overturn Florida’s current six-week abortion ban.
~ 6:13 p.m. Trump wins Texas
Trump won Texas for the third consecutive election, adding 40 electoral votes to his tally at 177.
~ 6:09 p.m. Trump wins Ohio
Trump wins 17 more electoral votes, increasing his lead to 137. Ohio voters supported him by wide margins in 2016 and 2020, and they delivered for him once again.
~ 6:01 p.m. Donald Trump wins Wyoming, Louisiana, South Dakota, North Dakota
Donald Trump wins 20 electoral votes, bringing his total to 120 against Harris’ 99.
~ 6 p.m. Harris wins New York
Harris wins New York’s 28 electoral votes, bringing her total votes to 99 against Trump’s 120.
~ 6 p.m. Polls close in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin and Wyoming
As more states are closing their polls, Harris currently has victory over New York, while Trump claims victory over Wyoming, Louisiana, South Dakota and North Dakota. In the senate currently, the Democrats gain 1 additional vote while the Republicans gain 3, bringing the total seat count to 35 for Democrats and 46 for Republicans. In the house, there’s been a big increase in votes for both parties, with 55 seats currently for the democrats and 78 for the Republicans.
~ 5:55 p.m. Harris Wins Delaware
Harris wins in Biden’s home state of Delaware. This brings Harris’ electoral votes to 71, with Trump at 101.
~ 5:54 p.m. Pennsylvania Gov.: ‘No Credible Bomb Threats’
Even though there were multiple bomb threats reported, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro assured the public that Pennsylvania State police are working with other local partners to respond if needed.
~ 5:38 p.m. Harris wins New Jersey
Harris won 14 electoral votes in New Jersey, claiming victory once again in the state, which has been supporting the Democratic party since 1988.
~ 5:30 p.m. Polls close in Arkansas
Trump has won all 6 of Arkansas’ electoral votes, bringing his total votes now to 101 versus Harris’ 49. In the Senate, both the Republican and Democratic parties remain at 43 to 34 seats. In the house, Republicans now have 57 seats, while democrats have 31. The next round of polls will close at 8 p.m. PST
~ 5:21 p.m. Some precincts in Boston ran out of ballots
Ballots are running out in multiple precincts in Boston, Massachusetts, said the group Lawyers for Civil Rights.
~ 5 p.m. Polls close in Alabama; Connecticut; Delaware; Washington, D.C.; Florida; Illinois; Maine; Maryland; Massachusetts; Missouri; New Hampshire; New Jersey; Oklahoma; Pennsylvania; Rhode Island and Tennessee
Kamala Harris has won the votes in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Maryland. Trump has won the votes in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and South Carolina. This brings Trump’s total votes to 95, while Harris is at 35. Candidates need 270 to win the race. In the senate, Republicans have 43 seats while democrats have 34. In the house, Republicans have 37 votes while democrats have 19.
~ 4:53 p.m. House and Senate Update
Senate votes remain the same, while the House is projected to have 7 Democratic votes and 20 Republican votes.
~ 4:37 p.m. House and Senate are leaning Republican
In the Senate and House race, Republicans currently have 40 Seats in the senate while Democrats have 29. In the house, Republicans have 14 seats while Democrats have seven.
~ 4:30 p.m. Polls close in North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia
Former President Donald Trump has taken the votes in West Virginia, bringing his total electoral vote count to 23 while Harris remains at three.
~ 4:27 p.m. States facing bomb threats at polling locations
The FBI has confirmed that bomb threats toward polling locations are currently non credible. The FBI has released a statement stating the threats seem to have originated from Russian domains. The FBI urges the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to law enforcement.
~ 4:27 p.m. Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia and Indiana polls close at 7 p.m. local time
Former President Donald Trump has taken the votes in Kentucky and Indiana with a total of 19 electoral votes. Kamala Harris has taken the votes in Vermont, with a total of 3 electoral votes. Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Virginia are currently leaning toward Trump, while New Hampshire is leaning toward Harris.
