We are so excited to continue providing Cal Poly Pomona with campus-wide coverage for its students, faculty and staff.
The goal of our newspaper is to keep the campus and surrounding communities well-informed with matters that are prevalent in our society. As a student-run, independent newspaper, we share similar goals as other newspapers with an emphasis on the CPP student perspective.
In News, led by Victoria Mejicanos, the section will continue to be a watchdog for the campus as well as keeping its students and faculty informed and up to date with topics surrounding global, national and campus issues. The recent IRA budget cut and an overview of the DNC and RNC convention can be found in our most recent issue.
The Arts and Culture section, run by Teresa Acosta, will tell the many stories of artists and creatives alike, and the manifold of cultural identities within and outside of the university. Look out for an exclusive Q&A with student artists who performed at Bronco Fusion and a review about the new vending machine on campus.
The Sports section, run by Samantha Campion, will continue to highlight CPP’s sports teams and athletes while introducing the many circulating, controversial topics surrounding the world of sports today. You can find a story about women dominating the Paris Olympics and its impact in our latest release.
In congruence with our written media, our multimedia team— led by Billy Huang, Jerry Sanchez, Darren Loo, Katie Priest and Ava Uhlack — will extend the textual experience into audial and visual media. A growth in content is to be expected with many different segments, both informational and entertaining, releasing in the near future on our YouTube channel and podcasts as well as a variety of social media content that can be found on our Instagram and Twitter pages.
Check out our new episode of Poly Post Now, which features highlights of Bronco Fusion and informational reels and posts on our Instagram page for incoming students.
Our online Spanish blog, La Voz de Pomona, run by Noemi Orozco, will continue to discuss topics surrounding Latino culture on campus with an introduction to the Latino communities outside of CPP, such as Pomona and Los Angeles.
Regarding our print editions, we will be releasing print every first Tuesday of the month which will consist of special themes such as “Election Day” and “Commencement Week” featuring print-exclusive content. We will continue to publish issues every Tuesday, excluding certain holiday weeks.
The upcoming print issue’s theme is “Welcome Back” and will be released next Tuesday with content discussing resources for students, the Time, Manner and Place policy and sports previews for the upcoming season.
In the last academic year, our newspaper won a multitude of awards with nine awards from the California News Publishers Association, four from the California College Media Association and two from the Society of Professional Journalists. We will continue to strive to produce work that broadcasts the Cal Poly Pomona name.
Student-run and independent are our guiding principles at The Poly Post. We perform our ethical responsibilities, abiding by the watchful eye of the students. With no affiliation with the campus itself, our content strives to continue the ongoing pursuit of keeping those in power accountable and uncovering issues that threaten the safety and prosperity of the campus.
The Poly Post acknowledges the diversity of life, cultures and backgrounds here at CPP and plan to showcase the intersections between each with accuracy and sincerity.
We also extend our hand in sharing our platform to our readers. I encourage all of you to reach out to The Poly Post if there is ever a topic that draws you to use your voice.

The legacy of The Poly Post lives on for the betterment of the campus. The Poly Post editorial board is dedicated to providing this university with the truth and sharing the many stories that dwell among us. As editor in chief, and at the helm of the newspaper, I plan to continue that legacy with the objective to improve and progress.
