On Oct. 3. McDonalds dropped its new adult version of a Happy Meal called the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box. The famous golden arches remastered the Happy Meal experience by adding a grown-up Happy Meal that will only be sold in the month of October. The Happy Meal boxes come with a 10-piece chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac, and both include fries and a drink for an additional cost. It includes the original characters just with four eyes added to them.
Students shared their thoughts on the meal.
Phoebe Granado- history
“I loved McDonald’s when we were kids, that was the place my mom would always take us Sundays after church, so it was just a really nice memory to know that we can get one now as a happy meal.”

“I’m indifferent towards the adult Happy Meal. I grew up poor, so I didn’t really eat much fast food. Now I don’t really crave or eat at McDonald’s. But I think that it’s a great marketing on the part of McDonald’s. Most of the characters who are given as toys in the adult Happy Meal are nostalgic to millennials. Since millennials are more than likely starting families, they’re probably already going to McDonald’s for their kid’s Happy Meal. So why not appeal to the adult at the drive thru and provide an adult Happy Meal.”
Frida Hernandez- construction engineering and management student
“Honestly, I feel like it’s pretty cool that there’s an adult Happy Meal. I know it might seem a bit childish, but sometimes I feel like we all forget at one point what it was like to be a little kid and enjoy the simpler things in life. For example, being excited over opening a Happy Meal and receiving a toy with it. I think it’s a good way to remind all of us of our childhood and of those happy memories.”
