Women’s soccer team still has a chance to make the playoffs.
The team won both games over the weekend.
Cal Poly’s women’s soccer team broke its seven-game losing
streak over the weekend with two big conference home wins, a 3-2
victory over CSU Stanislaus Friday and a 1-0 win over Chico State
Sunday improving their overall record to 8-8-0.
The Broncos were coming off 2-0 and 1-0 non-conference losses to
the San Francisco State Gators and the Cal State Monterey Bay
Otters last week, but rebounded behind solid performances by
sophomore Justine Barclay and freshman Brittany Aldrich to improve
their CCAA record to 4-8-0.
In Friday’s contest at Kellogg Field, Barclay scored all three
of Cal Poly’s goals while the Broncos as a team out-shot CSU
“I’m very, very pleased,” said Head Coach Isabelle Harvey after
the team’s win on Sunday.
“I’m proud of all of them, it’s been a tough road but the last
two games we played as a team. We showed that we can be a weapon.
We played at a high level. It was a great win.”
Harvey said it’s always tough at the end of the season to keep
focused and conditioned but added, “I think we showed a lot of
determination and a lot of heart today.”
The Broncos broke a 0-0 tie against the conference’s top ranked
team in the Northern Section (Chico State) Sunday afternoon when
Reserve Brittany Aldrich’s first goal of the season at the 79:15
mark, with an assist by Carolyn Rubendall, produced the margin of
Cal Poly bested the Wildcats (7-3-5, 5-1-4) 10-7 on shots at

left on the season and one final remaining home game against Cal
State San Bernardino to on Nov. 1.
The Broncos are 5-5-0 at home. According to information made
public by Cal Poly’s Athletic Department, Sunday’s win was the
Bronco’s first against Chico State in the last eight meetings.
Cal Poly tied them last year in a scoreless match.
