No Manny needed here

By Jonathan Aviles

Yes, Manny Ramirez has been banned for 50 games.

Yes, he won’t come back till the beginning of July.

No, we shouldn’t panic.

Why, you ask?

Because the Dodgers were the 2008 NL West champions and Manny
didn’t join the Dodgers till August.

What makes this year different from last year?

Nothing. He just comes to the team in July instead of
August.

Oh, well then all of you incompetent, worrisome “fans” wonder
what will happen to the Dodgers until July.

Well I don’t know if you follow the other NL West teams but
they’re looking pretty sad these days.

The Diamondbacks just fired their manager thanks to a lack of
development from their young players.

The Padres have lost seven of their last 10 games and their No.
3 starter played in the Mexican League last year.

Meanwhile, the Rockies are the worst of the bunch sitting at the
bottom.

The only team I am worried about is the Giants, who have good
pitching.

But so do the Dodgers so that negates their advantage.

Plus, even without Manny, the Dodgers still have a better lineup
than the Giants.

I’d like to credit a good friend of mine, RJ Swanson for the
record (yes, ya boy himself) for providing me with his theory on
the state of our boys in blue.

While Manny is gone the young Dodger hitters will get to
experience what it’s like without the big run producer. They can
develop on their own and grow from the time Manny is away. When
Manny comes back it’ll be just in time for the playoff run and the
young hitters will be battle tested already.

As a Dodger fan I have no intention of worrying. Hell, this
could possibly be the best thing to happen to the Dodgers this
year, minus anything that takes place after September.

Another plus, they now have a little over seven million dollars
to play with at the trade deadline thanks to Manny’s “little”
suspension.

At the end of July, when some teams will be out of contention
and struggling financially due to the economy the Dodgers will be
looking for anything these teams have to offer.

They will have the money a for a solid veteran starter they can
add to their staff.

See loyal Dodger fans. No need to panic. It’s only May but man I
can’t wait for July.
