“Student parking is an issue because it not only makes you use a lot of gas when you have already used a lot of gas to get onto campus, but it also makes you late to classes. Sometimes you have to walk from really far which makes it harder to get to campus and class on time.”
“It takes at least two hours to park …. Usually I take three [laps] around the campus before finding a parking spot. If I were to recommend anything for better parking, [I would suggest] building another parking structure.”
“I haven’t had a lot of issues because all my classes are at 8 a.m., but I know a lot of people are complaining and a lot of people end up getting frustrated and park in the teachers’ parking, basically, anywhere your car can fit. It seems poorly thought out. I don’t know what they’re doing … I would say we could have more parking lots and run shuttles from there. I know right now we have overflow parking but currently shuttles don’t run as much there. It might take an hour for the shuttle to come by. Shuttle frequency would also help parking issues.”
“I don’t believe there are enough parking [spots] for the number of students the school accommodates. After 9 a.m. in the morning, there’s hardly any spots if there are any. There’s always a massive delay for getting anywhere near campus at rush hours. It’s impossible to leave or get in. My suggestion would be to open a new parking structure, or open a new route for people to enter and exit [the] parking area because it will help alleviate traffic conditions.”
“I think parking is troubling. I commute maybe 20 minutes through traffic and when I get to school, sometimes I look for parking for up to 30 minutes. I go through the old structure, the new structure, F Lots … It’s really hard to find parking. I feel like there’s not enough spots for everyone … a new parking structure is essential because we are a commuter school.”
“We are way over-congested … I don’t understand why parking structure 2 is only two stories tall versus the other one which is much larger. And the overflow lots, why aren’t they actual parking structures? They are just flat parking lots where we can build double layers to have more parking spaces … we could have the bus systems more frequently go out, like Bus A that goes to the overflow parking lot. By 10:30 a.m., those buses are full, and then you have to walk to campus from there. In this heat, that’s dangerous.”
