GoFundMe to support Daisy Batres

By The Poly Post

A GoFundMe page has been created for the family of a Cal Poly Pomona staff member who was killed early Thursday morning in an automobile accident on the 10 freeway.

According to the San Bernardino County Coroner, on Thursday at 3 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received a report of a wrong-way driver on the 10 freeway in Montclair.

A driver in a Chevy Tahoe was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane when he collided head on with Daisy Batres’ Nissan Sentra, west of Monte Vista Avenue.

Batres, a 52-year-old Rialto resident, worked as a custodian for CPP’s Facilities Management since 2003.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Daisy is remembered fondly by her co-workers as a well-liked and respected colleague. Our thoughts, condolences and prayers go out to them, her friends and especially her family at this difficult time,” said President Soraya M. Coley in a note to the campus.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.

Batres’ GoFundMe page can be found at gofundme.com/daisy-batres-2u77rzps. Proceeds go toward covering her memorial service expenses.
