Students gathered at University Park and University Plaza on Friday for Cal Poly Pomona’s Associated Students, Inc.’s first official First Friday event of the quarter: “Let it Glow.”
From 9 p.m. to midnight, students had the opportunity to enjoy the first Friday of the month. Booths included free Italian shaved ice samples, a face painting area hosted by University Housing residential advisors, and a freebie station where ASI passed out glow sticks, water bottles and DIY tutus. In addition to the ASI-hosted booths, there were hip-hop dancers and a DJ playing techno music that brought excitement to the crowd. Students joined in on the dancing with a lot of enthusiasm.
The theme created a glow-in-the-dark atmosphere, complete with neon colors and lighting accents. ASI distributed glow sticks and supplied glow-in-the-dark paint. Students had glow-in-the-dark paint on their bodies from head to toe, and really went all out to show their Bronco spirit.
Johnny Rezendes, a first-year biotechnology student, was ecstatic about being at the event.
“I am really enjoying myself,” said Rezendes. “[I] met some new people. The break dancers are really sweet, and the atmosphere makes for a fun rave-style party scene.”
“Let it Glow” offered an opportunity for students living both on- and off-campus to come together and celebrate the beginning of the fall quarter.
