Justin Page, CPP ONE vice presidential candidate, dropped out of
the ASI Elections campaign at approximately 6 p.m. yesterday.
“I wish to resign from my position [for] the chief principle
that I do not feel in my heart that I am the qualified candidate,”
said Page in a letter to other ASI candidates. “I concede to you
that I feel as if I am a talented, charismatic individual, capable
of being the ASI Vice-President, however, I do not feel that I am
more qualified than my opponent”Matthew Stafford.”
The withdrawal effectively leaves Broncos United candidates
Johnathan Jianu and Stafford running uncontested on the ballot for
president and vice president, respectively.
“No one wants to win this way,” said Jianu.
Page’s withdrawal means that Marques Dickson, former CPP ONE
presidential candidate and Page’s former running mate, will not
appear on the ballot.
Ahmed El Bialy, chair of the ASI Elections Committee, said
Dickson can still run for ASI president as a write-in candidate,
provided he can find another vice presidential candidate before
Tuesday, May 3.
