BroncoFusion causes confusion

By Derrick Taruc

“I’m just not comfortable with someone saying Shiny Toy Guns is
playing live tonight when they were specifically told not to say
that,” said Jeremy Dawson of the duo Shiny Toy Guns
HybriDigital.

Dawson is referring to the rock/electronica band Shiny Toy Guns,
which he said is not the same entity as Shiny Toy Guns
HybriDigital. The other members of the live band, the female
vocalist Sisely Treasure and the drummer Mikey Martin, are not part
of HybriDigital. Members of HybriDigital consist of, founders
Dawson and Chad Petree.Dawson said, the band is the “dance
interpretation of Shiny Toy Guns,” but it’s not Shiny Toy Guns,
it’s HybriDigital.

Yes, confusing, which may have been why Cal Poly Pomona’s
Associated Students Inc, “dropped the bomb,” as Dawson put it. He
was referring to the way the university promoted the band for
BroncoFusion as Shiny Toy Guns.

“There was some sort of communication break down,” said Dawson.
“There was this gigantic ad on the school website and many
different links on the site that said Shiny Toy Guns is playing
live and they had pictures of the band with members of the band
that are not even in the live band, either. It was just a
mistake.”
