Students study and travel with study abroad programs

By Sasha Ramazani

The Cal Poly International Center is the home for finding out
all there is to know about studying abroad. The CSU International
Program is a system wide program that provides students with
international academic opportunities.

Students have many options of when and where they would like to
study. Studying abroad allows students to gain a competitive edge
and international experience to compete in the job market.

While studying abroad, students can enhance their education by
learning another language, get a better understanding of different
cultures and even earn a minor degree.

With the highly competitive job market, employers are looking
for the best of the best and students who have the most experience
and knowledge about the field they are applying for. Studying
abroad gives students real word experience in international skills
and global understanding.

There are a few eligibility requirements for students to
participate in the program. Most programs require a 2.75 GPA, while
others require a 3.0. For most programs, students must have
upper-division status or classified graduate status.

Some destinations are more difficult to sign up for and
therefore the best-qualified applicants will be chosen.
Scholarships and financial aid are also available.

During the summer, students can visit China, Ghana, Greece,
Germany, Italy, Korea, London, Paris and Spain.

For year-round school credit, students can visit countries such
as Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and the United Kingdom
among others.
