Disco Night welcomes students

By Zara Hurtado

Known for their original on-campus events, Associated Students Inc.’s Bronco Events and Activities Team is introducing Disco Night, a brand new event to welcome students into the New Year.

Inspired by the success of past events such as Cow Poly Line Dancing, BEAT’s Music Chair Serina Molano decided to kick it up a notch with a glitter-filled silent disco night.

“This year I want to bring events to campus that students probably haven’t seen before,” Molano said. “Fun is the number one thing, I want to see students enjoying themselves and leave the event hoping for the next one in the future.”

Disco Night will transform the ever-busy Games Room Etc. into a hustling dance floor, with three DJs providing eclectic sounds on the silent disco stage.

Aside from dancing, students are encouraged to take part in other activities including a photo booth, face painting, button making station, a life-sized photo op and free food.

The team will also have representatives at the event giving out BEAT swag and getting to know students.

As with all BEAT events, programming chairs are solely responsible for curating their events, from the talent they book to the theme.

Molano had a huge task in front of her when planning an event that had never been done before.

“I had a very big vision for this event and not everything I wanted was able to be happen, therefore I had to make compromises,” Molano said.

“I want students to associate BEAT with awesome events that really do enhance their student experience. All in all I want everyone to have fun, dance and remember Disco Night.”

The addition of Disco Night to BEAT’s roster shows that the organization may be taking their programming in a new direction this quarter, which will give students plenty to look forward to.

Make sure to save the date for this jam-packed night, Jan. 18 from 7-9 p.m. at the Games Room Etc.

Students interested in volunteering at future BEAT events can learn more by attending the first BEAT Volunteer Meeting of the quarter, Jan. 25 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Bronco Student Center, England Evans.

The event will offer a photobooth, face painting and button making
