ASI’s Donut Worry Mondays help students relieve stress

Associated Students Incorporated is hosting “Donut Worry Mondays” in the Games Room to promote confidence during a stressful midterm week.

To most students, this sweet treat was well received as it provided the much-needed pick me up for a Monday morning.

An extensive line of students spanned across the Games Room with a reasonable wait time to grab one of 17 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts and a Starbucks coffee.

Some students avoided the rush entirely by showing up 15 minutes early to the event held at 10 a.m.

“Last month we had 10 dozen donuts and we ran out within the first hour and a half,” Daniel Wright, senior finance student said. “This time we prepared for a much larger attendance and it’s a great success. We have hundreds of students signed-in to the event and would love to see the same turn-out for other fun and helpful ASI events like ‘Paint on Campus’ and ‘Lost and Found Auction’ held during the quarter.”

These types of events give students a break from a long weekend to get through the morning.

“Sometimes it’s hard to wake up and eat at home on Monday’s,” second-year computer information systems student Dennis Tran said. “I’m not a coffee person, but my friend told me about this event so I wouldn’t starve today.”

Chocolate sprinkled donuts decorated the perimeter of the ASI greeting table.

“I wish this event was more of a regular thing,” fourth-year business student Rochelle Winkler said. “It’s hard to get to school on time on Monday so sometimes I miss breakfast. People have to get to class so it’d be great if there were separate lines and multiple sign-in sheets because I might not make it to my morning class.”

Many students who attended the event were from statistics and accounting, since they are popular morning classes.

“Sometimes it’s not just the difficulty of the morning class that brings me to these events,” first-year kinesiology student Giovani Chino said. “Health is important and I don’t want to starve. Just free donuts. What more could you ask for?”

Chino’s comments are reminiscent of Homer Simpson from the popular series ‘The Simpsons.’ Homer’s catch phrase “Mmmmm donuts… Is there anything they can’t do?” Reminds CPP students that anything is possible with vigor and frugality.

ASI promotes their events through social media channels, emails and billboards across campus. Students tend to receive most of their information from the CPP ASI Facebook page, so be sure to set up notifications for future events.

ASI will be hosting the next “Donut Worry Mondays” Dec. 4 in the BSC Games Room starting at 10 a.m.
