ASI hosts Paint a Pumpkin event in the BSC

By Brenda Ruedas

To kick off the Halloween weekend, students gathered in the Games Room last Thursday to participate in the Paint-A-Pumpkin event.

While at the event, attendees had a variety of supplies to choose from, including feathers, paint, construction paper, glitter, buttons and acrylic rhinestones.

Many settled in with provided aprons and small pumpkins to begin the night.

Before beginning to paint pumpkins, several students searched the Internet for creative ideas.

Many decided to come to the event to hang out with friends.

Alexandria Hoston, a third-year political science student, loves painting pumpkins and was excited to show her creativity.

“I love painting, and I missed the canvas-painting event, so now that midterms are over, I could not wait to come,” Hostin said. “I could not miss the Paint-A-Pumpkin event.”

Hoston decided to paint Jack Skellington from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” onto her pumpkin.

She plans to attend the event next year.

This event also provided students with DIY skills to get creative and share ideas.

“It met my expectations because I had fun,” said Gabriela Gonzalez, a second-year Spanish student.

“I got to hang out with my friends, and I loved that everything was provided here at the Games Room. I would love to come again.”

The Paint-A-Pumpkin event was a big successful due to the great turnout.

Fourth-year psychology student and Reservations and Events Manager Genesis Zamora was proud to see all the participants in the Games Room.

“All the Games Room staff, including myself, love to gather students for events,” Zamora said. “I do marketing and organization for all events and having a good turnout feels great.”

By the end of the night, many were seen leaving with decorated pumpkins in hand, ready to celebrate Halloween.

The Games Room’s next event is Paint on Canvas on Nov. 16.
