Captain America: The Winter Soldier leaves The First Avenger in the dust

Disney’s Marvel has raised the bar in super hero cinemas with the new Captain America movie released on Friday.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is filled with action-packed scenes, drama, explosions and chemistry. The second installment of the Captain America series introduces new characters and brings back old faces.

Captain America (Chris Evans) teams up with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and fellow military veteran Falcon (Anthony Mackie) in order to fight a new threat that has invaded the world. The movie revolves around the villains Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford) and Sebastian Stan, who plays The Winter Soldier. The villains brought drama to the film as the minds behind HYDRA, a secret Nazi subdivision plotting to kill over 20 million innocent victims. The Winter Soldier is a mercenary for HYDRA who is revealed to be behind some of history’s most famous assassinations.

The Winter Soldier’s most recent target is Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). After Fury is severely injured by The Winter Soldier, he goes to the only person he trusts: Captain America. Black Widow and Falcon join the team against HYDRA and The Winter Soldier in a film that leaves the montaged battle scenes of “Captain America: The First Avenger” in the dust. Scenes are played out in their full-length with all of the sweet good-versus-evil battle mentalities.

As if the battle scenes and car chases were not enough, the story line twists and turns when The Winter Soldier is revealed to be Captain America’s best friend, Bucky Barns. Captain America finds himself unable to hurt Barns because of an agreement they made to “stay with each other until the end.” This comes to show that a strong friendship can’t be broken even under the worst circumstances. This particular scene brought emotion to all viewers because it was unexpected and occured at a cruicial plot point in the movie.

Overall, the film was a success and definitely worth the money to watch on the big screen.

If you haven’t had the chance yet to watch “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” in theaters, make sure to stay for the post-credits scene and end credit scene. This special feature gives you a taste of what is yet to come, and gives the audience a hint as to what will be in the Avengers sequel in 2015.
