Cal Poly Pomona students share their plans for the Thanksgiving weekend this year. Though it is a small break, it is the perfect way to get away and destress before finals with the people you love.
“This Thanksgiving, I plan to spend it with my aunt (who is) here from Mexico and with my family, instead of working like I did last year. We just do traditional cooking; we just sit down together, cook and watch a movie and listen to music.” Rosa Belmont | Second-year liberal studies student
“I’m just going to do (a) feast with family, like get extended family together at our house, cook food, typical Thanksgiving stuff. Nothing special, just a turkey, just catch up with one another.” Ethan Bowers | Second-year plant science student
“This Thanksgiving, I plan to visit some of my cousins. We have a big potluck and then there’s mac and cheese and the normal Thanksgiving food. We all just kind of come together and talk about what’s happened during the year, because it’s one of the few holidays where everybody gets to be in one house and spend time together …. And then at the end, I’ll have a week’s worth of food after. So I don’t have to worry about food for a while.” Joshua Lim | Fifth-year electrical systems engineering technology student
“For Thanksgiving, I’m spending time with my friends … we’re having Friendsgiving, and then also my family. So my family comes over and we have like an El Salvadorian Thanksgiving in a sense, so not like American traditional, but it’s something we’ve always done.” Heyley Pevon | Second-year sociology student
