Sun’s out, buns out for the Bronco Running Club

To raise club awareness, nine students stepped out of their comfort zones to run a short course in their underwear in broad daylight.

The Undie Run, presented by the Bronco Running Club (BRC), was held during U-hour on April 25.

It started and ended at the engineering meadows and lasted about 10 minutes due to a last-minute change of course.

Feliccia May, a second-year apparel merchandising and management student, has been part of BRC for two years, on and off, and represented the female community by being the only girl to participate in the Undie Run.

“I loved the event,” May said. “I just want to thank Bronco Running Club for showing us to get out of our comfort zones. We are all busy studying so we need to have fun every once in a while, even if it’s for a little bit and I think today was just perfect.”

There was a mix of BRC members and nonmembers who ran the event.

Ethan Talamantes, a second-year civil engineering student, was one of a few students who participated in the event.

“It was fun, it was a great opportunity,” Talamantes said. “You don’t really get to run in your underwear around campus everyday so why not do it. I am going to try to get more people to do it next time.”

Jeremy Model, a third-year marketing management student, has been president of the BRC since June 2017.

This will be his last year as president.

Model and the BRC only had two and a half weeks to market the event as much as they could, but Model still remains happy with the outcome.

“The event was extremely successful,” Model said. “I only thought initially that we would have members from BRC and maybe a couple of other people, but to have 10, 15 people here, running around campus in their underwear on a hot spring day during U-hour, that’s incredible.”

Model is thankful to all who came out to run and hopes this event will become a tradition on campus that will be carried on by the next BRC president.
