Hitting downtown Claremont on a night out

The school week — to some students — may sometimes seem a lot longer than five days.

As the weekend nears, students may find themselves exhausted from the studying and work, and may want to go out and clear their heads with some fun.

If you are limited to visiting locations closer to school for entertainment, do not worry because there is plenty one can do nearby.

Located about 8 miles from campus and roughly a 15-minute drive is downtown Claremont, with more than enough options for students to enjoy.

To begin, no matter what time of the day it is, one can take a nice walk around the downtown, which can also be relaxing.

The downtown is filled with little vendors and different stores that are fun to check out.

There are multiple small book stores and some good thrift shops nearby, which can be adventurous for some.

For those who are into music, Rhino Records is the place to go.

There they sell old and new records, CDs, books and other cool little things.

Feel free to test out some of the older records on the record players they have in store for customers to check out.

Lost Levels is another cool spot to check out for those who are interested in having some vintage gaming fun at $10 for the whole day.

For those looking for a little café to sit and maybe read a book or catch up with a friend, there are plenty of little gems tucked away.

CK Café is one of those hidden gems that is a good place to hang out because of its variety of different seating, both inside and outside. One is sure to find a nice comfy area.

The café is also known for its large variety of tea and the fancy way it is served with a flower bud in a clear cup, which makes for a nice picture.

For the coffee drinkers there is Augie’s Coffee House. This is located in Claremont’s packing district and right next to the coffee house, sharing space with Augie’s, is à la minute ice cream. The ice cream shop makes plenty of unique ways of serving the treat, which customers seem to love.

Perhaps one just wants to go out with friends and enjoy the 21-and-over scene a bit. Again do not worry because the night life in downtown Claremont is very much alive and well.

There are plenty of different bars and pubs to enjoy.

For a tasty meal with a dimly lit atmosphere there is the Back Abbey which also has a decent-sized bar inside.

Other interesting places that are normally flooded with other night-life goers are places like Eureka which is known to have good food and drinks.

Also, located in downtown is Laemmle Claremont 5, which is part of the movie theater chains that were created in 1938 with intentions of showcasing the latest independent, foreign and art films.

This is still just a small sample of the many things one may enjoy doing on a night or day out in downtown Claremont, the entertainment hot spot minutes away from school.
