Students with an unquenchable passion for the theatrical arts are in for a great opportunity.
The Lillian Wilds Shakespeare Scholarship will be awarded to one lucky undergraduate student who has a passion for both Shakespeare and the theatrical arts. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 4.
Lillian Wilds was an author and professor who had such a love for theater that she taught through her books and through her classes.

She taught courses covering Shakespeare here at the theatre department, and was a beloved member of faculty.
After her death, Wilds’s husband started the Lilian Wilds Shakespeare Scholarship in her name for CPP undergraduate students with a passion for the performing arts.
The scholarship is awarding $1500 to a student who is enthusiastic about Shakespeare study and performance. Applicants are required have participated in a Shakespeare work, such as courses or festivals, in either high school or college.
Applicants who have taken Shakespeare related courses must have received adequate-passing scores.
Applicants must, also, write a 1000-1500-word essay describing their passion for Shakespeare which will be graded on composition of the essay, as well as based on their enthusiasm of the subject.
Students are obligated to meet either the academic or financial criteria.
The academic standard includes having a minimum 3.0 GPA and multiple teacher recommendations.
To meet the financial criteria students must prove financial need.
