LA designer Andrew Christian was certainly a hit among guests
March 20 as he debuted his Fall 2009 collection at the official
wrap party for LA Fashion Week.
Christian showed off his new upscale women’s line and “Classic”
line for men in a runway show that showcased his signature nearly
naked models.
Celebrities and Hollywood socialites turned out for Christian’s
show as he wrapped up the week at Hollywood hot spot Boulevard
3.
Those in attendance included industry professionals and familiar
faces like Jai Rodriguez from “Queer Eye for a Straight Guy” and
Nick Verros, a “Project Runway” alum.
Christian’s women’s line featured loose fitting charmeuse
blouses, flowing trousers and lady-like high-waisted pencil and
tulip skirts.
The “Classic” line for men was a collection of crisp dress
shirts in striped and plaid prints, trousers that mixed business
cool with athletic stride, thin neckties and fedoras.
After the G-rated collection made its way down the runway, his
risque underwear collection followed, leaving very little to the
imagination.
Female models worked striped bikinis with feather boas, animal
printed tights and masks, while male models strutted in brightly
colored briefs and speedos.
Every piece sported Christian’s signature cross logo.
The theme of the night was “It’s a Jungle Out There, Baby!” and
turned the normally Magenta-lighted Boulevard 3 into an exotic
emerald labyrinth that featured beautiful women wrapped in live
pythons.
Boulevard 3’s courtyard and dance floor was illuminated with
green lights, with ivy vines sprawling at every corner.
The drinks of the night were Jungle Juice ” a concoction of rum,
grenadine and fruit punch ” and Amaretto Red ” a sweeter version of
the traditional Amaretto Sour.
Female bartenders donned leopard printed bikinis and served
chocolate fondue, while male bartenders fed guests with carne asada
on the patio.
After Christian’s show, guests crowded onto the dance floor for
the event’s after party in which DJ’s spun top 40 beats and
remixes.
Since 1997, Andrew Christian has been producing contemporary
collections of urban inspired menswear that can be found in
exclusive boutiques across the globe.
His printed and custom woven men’s and women’s underwear have
expanded to department stores and larger retailers this season.
His Spring 2008 Men’s Underwear was featured on Oxygen’s reality
television series, The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency.
LA Fashion Week’s Fall 2009 collections debuted March 13-20 at
venues throughout the city.
